NCHD's Mission and Goal ...
To promote Human Development by supporting Government Line Departments, Non-Governmental Organizations and elected officials at the district level in primary education, literacy and provision of basic healthcare services. NCHD is a fast-track initiative to improve social sector outcomes at the grassroots. The goal of the Commission is to fill the implementation gaps and improve public sector delivery mechanisms to achieve the MDGs.

NCHD DECLARED LEAD AGENCY FOR LITERACY  NCHD WINS UNESCO LITERACY PRIZE 2006
NCHD has been officially declared as lead agency for the spread of literacy programmes in the country by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The 2006 UNESCO International Reading Association Literacy Prize has been awarded to NCHD for its National Literacy Program. click here to view
   
NCHD - Bringing About Social Change with its Door-to-Door Campaigns REBUILDING SHATTERED LIVES
NCHD, with its unique partnerships, holds the potential to achieve education and health for all so that every child goes to school and every individual has access to basic healthcare. The National Commission for Human Development joined in the national effort to help the victims of the October 8, 2005 Earthquake by setting up a special Earthquake Relief and Recovery Project (ERRP) in October 2005. read more

• 120,263 adult literacy centres established and completed in which 2,555,606 learners (11-45 years) have been made literate (with 95% learners being female)





• Monthly basic health care provided to 1.2 million people





• 13.77 million women trained in ORS preparation and use





• Screened 1.8 million primary school children for health problems while 64,416 teachers trained in school health





• 43,543 Eye glasses provided to needy primary class students free of cost.
