Abbottabad (December 24, 2025)The Director General NCHD Mr Ali Asghar, along with the Director Operations KP Mr Anwar Iqbal and Provincial office team, visited District Jail Abbottabad and held a meeting with the Superintendent Jail in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Captain Sarmad. During the meeting, the jail administration briefed the team on the ongoing role in District Jail Abbottabad.

The delegation was informed that NCHD has established a Drug Rehabilitation Center in District Jail Abbottabad to facilitate the recovery and reintegration of drug addicts. So far, three batches have successfully completed rehabilitation at the center, while enrollment for the fourth batch was underway at the time of the visit. The jail administration and DG NCHD appreciated the efforts of Abbott abad team specially by Mr Shoaib Sadiq, field officer.

During the visit, the Director General NCHD and the Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad distributed blankets among inmates, arranged by NCHD as part of its welfare support. In addition, books were distributed under the Each One Teaches initiative to promote education and learning among prisoners.

The DG NCHD, DC and the accompanying team conducted a detailed visit of the jail and inspected various sections. The skill development programs and other rehabilitation initiatives implemented by the Jail superintendent for inmates were highly appreciated.

At the end, the Director General NCHD presented a shield to the Superintendent Jail Mr Junaid Bukhari in recognition of cooperation and joint efforts. On behalf of the Prisons Department, the Superintendent Jail presented shields to the Director General NCHD and Deputy Director Ms Shabnam Kanwal as a gesture of mutual appreciation and collaboration.
