The Task Force for Human Development was created, in June
2001; it was mandated to propose plans for capacity building
in Social Sectors based on the assessment of needs and
recommendations of integrated solutions for the delivery
of primary education, adult literacy, micro enterprise
and primary health care at the grass roots.
The Task Force presented its report in the stipulated
time. I found it comprehensive and practicable, and therefore
set-up the National Commission for Human Development in
July 2002.
Dr. Nasim Ashraf, a philanthropist with a credible record
of achievements and services for humanitarian causes,
especially in reference to Pakistan, was appointed as
the Chairman of NCHD.
I am extremely pleased to see the NCHD Activities Overview.
I am satisfied that the commission,
under the leadership of Dr. Nasim Ashraf, has stood up
to the daunting task of human development and mobilization
in the right way and has justified the confidence placed
in theorganization through it’s progress in a short
span of ten months.
In addition to the Pakistan Human Development Fund, the
Commission has also shown great initiative in mobilizing
sizeable funds through UN Agencies, NGOs and individual
philanthropists, who are people of great repute and character.
I am confident that NCHD, working in the right direction
with consistent zeal will gradually achieve my vision
for a progressive and prosperous Pakistan, through a sustainable
social & economic revival program. It will infuse
the real spirit of awakening that will make the people
carve out their destiny with their own hands.
Concluding, I thank all those involved in this great movement
- sparked off by NCHD. I wish NCHD best of luck and Gods
speed in completion of their programmes. Pakistan
