Mirza Nasir ud Din Mashhood Ahmad is a seasoned civil servant having commenced his illustrious career in the Civil Service in 1991. Currently serving as a 22 Grade Officer in the Secretariat Group, he holds the pivotal position of Director General at the National Commission for Human Development since July 25, 2023.

Mirza Nasir has demonstrated his expertise and dedication through various high-profile roles, including Special Secretary at the Health Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, and the Establishment Division.

Mirza Nasir ud Din Mashhood Ahmad's career is marked by an unwavering commitment to human rights, reflecting over two decades of dedicated service in the capacity of a human rights activist. Notably, he spent approximately three years as the Secretary of the National Commission for Human Rights of Pakistan, where he played a crucial role in championing the cause of human rights. His extensive experience in this domain attests to his deep understanding of the complexities and challenges associated with safeguarding and promoting human rights. Mirza Nasir's passion for human rights advocacy is further underscored by his role as Director (Investigation) for six years at the Federal Ombudsman and his tenure as Deputy Director (Human Rights) for nince years at the Regional Directorate of Human Rights in Peshawar.

His academic prowess is reflected in his academic background, holding an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, UK, where he was a British Council Chevening Scholar  Through these roles, he actively contributed to the protection and advancement of human rights, showcasing a profound dedication to creating a just and equitable society. Mirza Nasir's multifaceted career not only emphasizes his administrative acumen but also underscores his tireless efforts towards the betterment of human rights in Pakistan.

Mirza Nasir's extensive portfolio also encompasses responsibilities in heritage preservation, arts, and culture, where he served as Joint Secretary (Heritage) at the Ministry of National Heritage. He is M.A in International Relations from the University of Peshawar. Mirza Nasir's multifaceted career showcases a profound commitment to public service and a keen interest in human rights, governance, and cultural heritage.

  • Islamabad September 8,2023, International Literacy Day 2023
  • A seminar on the eve of International Literacy Day was organized at AIOU in collaboration with NCHD, Ministry of FE & PT, JICA and other partner organizations. The Honorable Minister Federal Education Mr.Madad Ali Sindhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, the VC AIOU, DG NCHD, and Program Manager JICA also joined him on the stage. The Federal Minister during his speech emphasized upon paving the ways towards eradicating illiteracy and to come up with viable solutions for achieving the goal of 100 percent literate Pakistan

  • Islamabad September 6,2023: TOT for 25 Master trainers from NCHD BECS, NEF, PAGE, Sunbeams, SPO & JJT was concluded at AIOU Islamabad. The worthy Director General Mr. Nasir ud din Mashhood Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion. 

  • Islamabad September 5,2023: Today a meeting was convened on the PM directives under the chairmanship of the Worthy Director General NCHD at the conference room of the NCHD Head office. 

  • The objective of the meeting was to formulate policy framework in line with the NCHD mandate and inform PM Secretariat about the capacity of NCHD to implement projects in collaboration with Federal, provincial Governments and other stake holders to improve socio-economic, health and Literacy indicators in Pakistan.

  • It is to announce that Mr. Mirza Nasir-ud-Din Mashood Ahmad (BS-22) has joined us as the new Director General of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).
  • His vast experience and expertise in the field make him a valuable addition to our team.
  • As Director General, Mr. Ahmad will be leading our efforts to further the NCHD's mission of promoting human development through education, healthcare, and social development programs across the country.
  • Minister for Federal Education & Professional Training visits Shah Allah Ditta for Drive to Enroll of Out of School Children in ICT
  • A training and orientation session of the newly inducted 15 teams from the province of Punjab and KP was conducted at NCHD Head Office Islamabad. The objective of the session was to train the Field Officers in identification of OOSC in ICT and enrolling them in the schools ( NCHD, BECS, FDE, NEF, Sunbeam and Private Schools etc) . It was part of achieving the objective of Zero OOSC in ICT Campaign 2023.
  • Today dated 20-05-2023, Director General NCHD, Mr. Junaid Akhlaq visited Field Control Center (FCC) at UC Burma Town. FCC will be a focal point for Govt. Deptt, private schools, community, NGOs, volunteers to coordinate activities relating to OOSC campaign in Burma Town, ICT.
  • Director General also inaugurated two schools in cooperation with community people / counsellor in UC- Burma Town. Total six (6) community schools are being opened today in this UC by NCHD.
  • NCHD established National Literacy Resource Center in collaboration with UNESCO. The objective of NLRC is to conduct research on various eduational indicators and to dig out the ways to improve the rate of literacy in Pakisan
  • NCHD has launched a book club with a clear intention to incorporate and rejuvinate the habits of reading among the learned class mostly over powerd by the technologicall inventions
  • The NCHD book club was officially inaugurated by the Honorable Chairman NCHD Col.(R.) Dr. Amirullah Marwat on September 22, 2022
  • September 21, 2022, NCHD Literacy Department has produced video lessons of the literacy Syllabus as per approved 2007 curriculum of the Govt. of Pakistan as a guideline for teaching of literacy professionals, Field Officer, Local Area Supervisors and illiterate learners in collaboration with UNESCO
  • The Worthy Chairman, NCHD graced the occasion and inaugurated the lessons for Social Media for world wide online access at the NCHD Head Office.
  • The online Literacy course is expected to be used for the recap of lesson learnt by 4.3 Million Neo-literates of NCHD in the country
  • The Honorable Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Ms. Zeb Jaffar Paid a courtesy visit to the National Commission for Human Development

  • She was briefed about the NCHD work in the recent flash floods and informed Ms. Zeb Jaffar about NCHD rescue and relief services rendered to the flood victims in 65 districts of Pakistan.
  • Mr. Sam Wilson (ED TECH & DISTANCE LEARNING STRATEGIST, ODI FELLOW), paid a courtesy visit to the National Commission for Human Development dated september 14, 2022
  • He was received by the Honorable DG(LAC) and had the honor to call on Honorable Chairman NCHD.
  • During his visit, he was briefed about NCHD and its social development services in the field of Education, School Health, Literacy and Skill development.
  • The meeting was chaired by the Honorable chairman wherein, Mr. Sim Wilson was informed about the tremendous achievements that NCHD made during the past two decades
  • He commended the efforts of NCHD in improving the Human Development Indicators in Pakistan and appreciated the Rapid Response by NCHD in the recent flash floods through providing rescue and relief services in all the affected districts of Pakistan because of its geographical presence and trained Human Resource.
  • NCHD signed an agreement with UNICEF to carry out feasibility study that will provide and in-depth analysis on the requirement of KP-EIP in 20 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
  • NCHD launched project " Leave No Girls behind" funded by ACTED PAKISTAN" in Lakki Marwat

  • The objective of the event was to give a detailed over view of the project named, 'Leave No Girls Behind'" (LNGB) by ACTED to update the stakeholders for smooth implementation of the project in District Lakki Marwat KP


Bahawalpur: The Honorable Chairman NCHD Col. (R). Dr. Amirullah Marwat opend two new schools in the Cholistan area of Tehsil Khairpur Tamywali, District Bahawalpur. No Educational facility was available in the radius of 6 KM.
